VIDEO: What’s happening in Congress this week

As the year begins, there are several key events taking place this week on Capitol Hill to be aware of.

The aftermath of the killing of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani is dominating Capitol Hill. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has promised to introduce a vote on a war powers resolution that would limit Trump administration actions in Iran by the end of the week.

And the impeachment drama continues. On Friday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell restated his demand that senators agree to basic terms to get a trial underway—at the same time, he hopes to delay the decisions about new witnesses. In the meantime, normal business will continue in the chamber.
